Joyce Mucher » Home

My name is Joyce Mucher and I am currently the kindergarten teacher at Penryn School.  I began my teaching career at Penryn in 1987 and have taught kindergarten, first, second and fifth grades.  I love teaching at a rural school and can’t imagine ever being anywhere other than Penryn.

The world of kindergarten is a magical place where joyful learning happens each and every day.  Although the academic demands in kindergarten have certainly changed over the years, I wholeheartedly adhere to the philosophy that childhood is a journey, not a race.  A typical day in our classroom includes not only reading, writing and math, but also exploring, creating, singing, dancing and laughing.

"Ideal teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross, then having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own."
